WHO WAS WHO IN OLD PLYMOUTH

ARCHIBALD JAMES FURGUSON (1885-1971)

Archibald James Furguson was the second son of Mr James Henry Furguson (1855-1934), mineral water manufacturer, and his wife, formerly Miss Michaeline Welman Symons.  He was born in Plymouth on January 22nd 1885, the year that his father started manufacturing mineral waters.  Following the death on July 17th 1960 of his older brother, Mr Charles Henry Ferguson (1882-1960), he and his younger brother, Mr Roy Symons Furguson (1892-1986), took over the business of Messrs J H Furguson and Sons Limited, in Cambridge Lane West, Plymouth.

Mr Archibald James Ferguson had married Miss Linda Gertrude Ellen Browning on September 2nd 1914 at the Ancient Parish Church of Saint Andrew the Apostle, Plymouth.  It would that they had no family.

He became the senior partner of Messrs J H Furguson and Company Limited in 1960 after the death of his older brother, Mr Charles Henry Furguson (1882-1960).

Mr Archibald James Furguson died in Plymouth in 1971 and was cremated at Efford Crematorium on February 4th 1971.
