WHO WAS WHO IN OLD PLYMOUTH

WILFRED DONALD STRIBLEY (1906-1941)

Wilfred Donald Stribley was born on January 5th 1906 to Mr Hubert Henry Stribley and his wife, the former Miss Sophia Rouse Chapman, of Middle Street, Padstow, Cornwall, who were married in Padstow on January 27th 1880.

Mr Wilfred Donald Stribley married Miss Phyllis Annie Pathyjohns on December 25th 1928 at Mutley Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, Mutley Plain, Plymouth.

In 1935 Mr and Mrs Stribley were living at 21 Whitleigh Villas, Saint Budeaux, and Wilfred was a wireless engineer at number 10 Morshead Terrace, Crownhill, Eggbuckland.  His telephone number was Plymouth 71308.  They are known to have had two children: David A Stribley, born 1930; and Margaret Joan Stribley, born 1932.

Police War Reserve Constable Wilfred Donald Stribley died at Greenbank Police Station on April 22nd 1941.  The circumstances of his death are not known.  His funeral took place at Saint Budeaux Parish Church [SEE www.olddevonport.uk] on Saturday April 26th 1941.
