ROADS AND STREETS IN OLD PLYMOUTH - A-Z INDEX HAWKER'S AVENUE Hawker's Avenue was considered to be the bottom part of Old Penny Lane, otherwise White Cross Street, in 1820. It ran from the water conduit in Exeter Street to North Quay, Sutton Harbour. It became Hawker's Avenue probably because in 1812 Old Penny Lane was the home of John Nichols Hawker, Esquire, whose merchants business, Messrs Hawker and Son, was around the corner in Briton Side. Hawker's Avenue was not recorded in 1852. For a list of the occupants of Hawker's Avenue in 1890 CLICK HERE.
