The Engineer to the Launceston and South Devon Railway Company reported in August 1866 that a siding had been installed between at approximately 18 miles 17 chains, Mary Tavy and Lidford (sic), for the benefit of farmers and others in the Brentor district to assist in increasing the goods traffic on the line.
