RUSSELL STREET BRANCH POST OFFICE

1889

In 1889 the Russell Street Branch Post Office was also a Money Order Office, a Savings Bank, and an Annuity and Insurance Office.

It was located at number 19 Russell Street, Plymouth, within the warehouse of Messrs Charles Haison and Company.

Letters were collected at 12.30am, 9.40am, 11.05am, 1.15pm, 2.40pm, 4.55pm, 7pm, 8.10pm, and at 9.55pm.  There were only two collections on a Sunday, at 12.30am and at 7pm.

Delivery of letters from the General Post Office at Westwell Street, Plymouth, commenced at 7am and then at 11.40am, 3.10pm, 5.40pm and 8.45pm.  On Sundays, Christmas Day, Good Friday and Bank Holidays only the first delivery was made.
