LAIRA BRANCH POST OFFICE

In 1889 the Laira Branch Post Office, at the eastern end of what was to become Old Laira Road, and which was also a general shop, was also a Money Order Office, and a Savings Bank.  The Post Master was Mr William Joseph Haythorn.

Letters were collected at 8.40am, 12.30pm, and at 15.50pm.  There was only one collection on a Sunday, at 8.40am.
