CAPITAL AND COUNTIES BANKING COMPANY

The Capital and Counties Banking Company, which had been founded in 1834, had been established in Devonport since 1891 but it was not until 1897 that they opened a branch in Whimple Street, Plymouth.  They also had a branch in East Stonehouse.

They moved to 73 George Street, Plymouth, when they took over the premises formerly belonging to the Cornish Bank.

After thirty years of taking over other banks, the Capital and Counties Banking Company was itself absorbed by Lloyd's Bank early in 1918.
